The Persona: The Mask You Show the World

The persona is the mask you wear to function in society, the social role and public face you present to the world. The term comes from Latin meaning the mask worn by actors in classical theater, and Jung chose it deliberately to emphasize that persona is not your true self but a necessary adaptation to social expectations and requirements. Everyone has multiple personas corresponding to different social contexts. Your professional persona at work differs from your parental persona at home differs from your friendly persona with peers. These are not false or inauthentic necessarily. They are context-appropriate presentations of yourself....
